Optical Amplifier Unit (OAU)
The Optical Amplifier Unit (OAU) is a core module of the Optical Communications Terminal (OCT), designed for long-distance free-space optical communication. It enhances optical transmission power and receiver sensitivity, improving link power margin and supporting reliable communication over high-loss optical links.
Key Features and Functions
The OAU integrates high-power Tx amplification, low-noise Rx amplification, and module control functions. On the Tx side, an EYDFA amplifies modulated optical signals from the PTU for free-space transmission through the OFE. On the Rx side, an LN-EDFA preamplifies weak incoming optical signals, improving receiver power margin. The OAU also provides parameter configuration, operational control, and status monitoring.
