OFE ( Optical Front End )

Optical Front End (OFE)

The Optical Front End (OFE) is a core optical module of the Optical Communications Terminal (OCT). Together with the telescope, it provides the optical interface between fiber-based and free-space optical paths, supporting high-speed inter-satellite communication and precision beam pointing and tracking.

Key Features and Functions

The OFE integrates beam collimation, optical path separation, and fiber coupling. On the transmit (Tx) side, it collimates optical signals from the fiber and directs them to the telescope for free-space transmission. On the receive (Rx) side, it separates the collected optical signal into PAT tracking and communication paths, enabling beam tracking while coupling the communication signal into the receive fiber for subsequent processing by the OAU and PTU.
